Hide Preparation

Open skins flat and salt the flesh side thoroughly using a fine grade salt    Be very liberal with your salt and rub it into all areas of the skin; eyes, nose and lip areas are important.  Let the skin set for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, shake off, resalt and let sit for another 24 to 48 hours.

After the above steps, shake off and hang up skin side out, in a well ventilated area.

Once skin is about 75 percent dry it is ready to ship.

To package for shipping, fold skin hair-side to hair-side as necessary to fit in an adequately sized cardboard box. Be sure to tuck the ears and head inside the skin to prevent damage during shipment.   The cardboard box should be lined with newspaper only.  Try to leave the left shoulder and/or left hip exposed so that we may encode them properly.

Count your skins accurately and enclose a packing list filled out with box contents, name, address, and phone number.  Our H & H Shipping Form is provided for your convenience.
